Finally! The Complete Disclosure of Atheist Alliance International

by Martin Boers

In July 2022 I published an article titled "Atheist Alliance International is an illegitimate organisation. Change my mind." That article challenged the current so-called "board" of Atheist Alliance International (AAI) to produce specific pieces of documentary evidence that would settle claims about the legitimacy of their disputed 2018 "AGM" and, by extension, the legitimacy of the current "board" of AAI.

I have no idea if anyone on the "board" of AAI read my article, but for the next 5 months they went almost completely silent. It seemed like AAI had ceased operations. There was even a running joke about whether Brian Kernick ("Acting President" of AAI since July 2022) actually existed.

In August 2022 I published another article, "The Four Questions that AAI Refuses to Answer", which was republished on this blog in November.

Finally, in early December 2022, the "board" of AAI broke their silence when they released what they called a "Disclosure Document" to their members. Within days the document had been leaked to the general public. The document purported to deal with "allegations of mismanagement", and the "board" launched the document to their members with the proud claim that:

"Nothing is held back. Honesty is the best policy."

When I first opened the Disclosure Document, I was optimistic. This might contain the documentary evidence that would finally settle all the disputed claims. During their short time on the "board" of AAI, David Orenstein and Nina Sankari had both promised an independent investigation. And here it was!

Or, was it?

Unfortunately the Disclosure Document was not the result of an independent investigation, and it did not contain any objective evidence. Instead, it contained a series of unsupported assertions, apparently penned by Bill Flavell. Bill had investigated and reported on the actions of Bill Flavell - but not on all the actions of Bill Flavell - only those actions of Bill Flavell that Bill Flavell had decided were worth reporting on.

The "Disclosure Document" was a cover-up.

Shortly after the publication of the Disclosure Document, David Orenstein resigned from AAI's Advisory Council.

After the Disclosure Document was released, an individual member of AAI wrote an article on this blog. "The Incomplete 'Disclosure' of Atheist Alliance International" describes how, after inviting questions about the Disclosure Document, the "board" of AAI refused to answer those questions. Among the questions were requests for the documentary evidence I had asked for in July and August.

It is now clear that the so-called "board" of AAI has no intention of ever providing the documentary evidence that would settle the allegations of past wrongdoing.

I have now done what the "board" of AAI refuses to do. I have collected all the publicly available evidence, and used that to make a complete and honest list of the real disclosures that the "board" should have reported to their members.

Here it is - The Real Disclosure Document.
